Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu

High mountains, a refuge of threatened species, and landscapes shaped by centuries of human activity constitute the largest natural park of Catalonia, along the counties of Pallars Sobirà and Alt Urgell.
The Alt Pirineu Natural Park is located in the counties of Pallars Sobirà and northern Alt Urgell and includes a large part of the Catalan Axial Pyrenees. With 69,850 hectares, it becomes the largest natural park in Catalonia and its highest mountain ranges are located in the highest levels of the Catalan territory.

The double condition of space of high natural value and at the same time a scenario of exploitation that traditionally contributed to modeling the landscape and creating and preserving these values has made it considered that the figure of a natural park is the one that can best guarantee the protection of the natural and cultural values included in its area and the establishment of a management and management system aimed at the sustainable development of this territory.
